| 12-string guitars | | I recently got engaged, and her daughter has a Martin 12-string. Does any one here play 12-string guitars primarily? You'd really like a Martin, by the way. | |

| Does anyone play twelve string guitar? | | About six years ago I bought a Tanglewood twelve string acoustic guitar. Although I love the sound of it I've always had problems playing it. Apart from having to press down on twice as many strings as on a six string guitar, the neck is a lot wider. It also doesn't help that the only twelve string sets that my local guitar shop sells are gauge eleven. Anything more complicated than simple open position chords is as a struggle for me (although I still try playing them). I usually can only play it for about twenty to forty minutes at a time before my fingers start killing me. So does anyone else here play twelve string guitar? If so do you struggle with it? | |
| | What is your favorite accoustic guitar | | I had several guitars at one time because each one was unique in sound and style. My first guitar was a Stella, I didn't know it was worth money or i would have kept it. I got it in the 70s my second was a yamah 12 String. Then i had a number of off brands before i got my Martin DM, it was my favorite. Has any had a Taylor guitar, what does it play like? | |

| | 9 string guitar | | I was at a meeting awhile back and a lady was playing a nine string guitar. At first I thought she was kidding me. I laughed and asked if it was a 12 string missing 3 strings. But it really was a nine string guitar.I have looked for them on line and cannot find one anywhere. It had a perfect sound!Anyone ever seen one? Know where to get one? | |

| What instrument do you play? | | I play a little of the guitar and thouroughly enjoy it. Never had any formal lessons, but have the ability to play by ear.Started young when my dad bought a 12 string yamaha guitar and started playing some christian songs, imediately fell in love with it, and took the initiative to learn up myself.I can't say i'm good, but ok for someone who have never taken any lessons, can strum, pluck a few nice songs.Wish to have proper lessons one day, hopt it is not too late | |
| | Campfire Memories- Guitars and Rindercella | | When I was a girl, we spent our summers in the country with our extended family. Almost every night, we'd gather around a campfire. The guitars would come out and the entertainment would begin. Now singing around the fire along with my Uncle's well played 12 string was certainly enjoyable, but the best memory was the telling of a story about Rindercella.I was lucky enough to find the story written out online and will be sharing the link with you.We would howl with laughter about her mugly other and two sad bisters. The adults started the howls when she slopped her dripper and we laughed along though we wouldnt realize what they found so much funnier until we were grown.I hope you'll take the time to look at the story, as it was quite amusing to read, and to hear.Did you spend time around the campfire growing up. WHat were your passtimes?Rindercella: http://www.matthewgoldman.com/spoon/rindercella_2.html | |

| Discipline | | I've had my eye on a couple of B.C. Rich guitars that I really like, so today I stopped in to the guitar shop where I get my strings and stuff looking to sell my 12 string Ibanez and leave with a new B.C. Rich. The 12 string is a fine guitar but not as much fun as I thought it would be when I bought it, I rarely play it. The shop owner was out and one of his instructors was running the shop. He took my guitar and gave me a receipt so I could leave it for the owner to appraise and make an offer. Then we got to talking about guitars and I told him I had my eye on a couple of the B.C. Rich guitars. He asked why I wouldn't rather have a Fender or a Martin and I explained that while they are fine instruments, they are pricey and I personally feel you are paying more for the name. Yeah okay, I'm cheap! He asked what I liked about the B.C. Rich guitars and we discussed it for a while and I asked him if he liked to do hammer ons and pull offs. He grinned wide and said of course. I grabbed one of the least expensive B.C. Rich guitars, model Bronze, and we hooked it up to an amp. For the next hour and a half we took turns playing and discussing music. It was a wonderful time. | | What Kind Of Guitar Do You Play? | | I play the bass, mine is an Epiphone Viola bass. Just like the one the Beatles used. This one does not have the long neck and is half the weight of most other bass guitars.I do not play as much as I use to, but I do enjoy playing. It is very hard to practice a bass all alone. Thank goodness I have friend that plays a 12 string and a 6 string. I can play an acoustic and an electric guitar, but I prefer the bass. What kind do you play? | |
